Job summary

California State University, Bakersfield invites applications for an Accountant I. This on-site position supports day-to-day accounting, budget analysis and financial reporting for Student Affairs and University Advancement.

Under supervision by Directors, the role performs GAAP-based reconciliations, journal entries, inter-fund accounting, and prepares reports for audits, including Board reports and regulatory filings.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field or higher with substituted experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, FASB, and GASB standards preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office and accounting software required.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry to intermediate accounting and financial activities for Student Affairs and University Advancement.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and inter-fund allocations.
• Produce reports for audits, Board meetings, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain accurate financial records and support monthly close.
