Job summary

NIIC National Interstate Insurance Company is seeking an Accountant I to join our Richfield, OH team on a hybrid schedule. The role requires on-site presence four days a week with one remote day, with core in-office days Tuesday–Thursday.

You will prepare and review financial statements, reconcile ledgers, and support audits and budgeting activities to ensure GAAP compliance. Minimum education is a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field, plus strong analytical skills and knowledge of

Responsibilities

• Prepares and reviews monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
• Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Prepares journal entries and assists with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Assists with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Supports internal and external audits, ensuring the availability of necessary documentation.
• Assists with financial analysis, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
• Participates in preparing ad-hoc financial reports and analyses as needed.
