Responsibilities

• Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances and unusual activity.
• Prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries, including accruals, prepaid expenses, amortization, intercompany activity, and other month-end adjustments.
• Analyze revenue, expenses, gross profit, and operating results by client, project, department, and business unit.
• Support accounting for advertising and client-related activities, including project costs, media spend, production costs, pass-through expenses, and client billings.
• Assist with revenue recognition and ensure revenue is recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
• Review accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued expenses, and other working capital accounts for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and management reports, including variance analysis and explanations of significant fluctuations.
• Partner with Account Management and Operations teams to understand project-level financial performance, budgets, forecasts, and actual results.
• Review work-in-progress and project accounting activity to ensure revenue and costs are appropriately recognized in the correct reporting period.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external and internal audits.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal accounting policies, and financial reporting controls.
• Assist with the preparation of year-end audit schedules, tax support, and other regulatory or management reporting requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and financial controls.
• Assist with implementation and maintenance of accounting systems, reporting tools, and financial processes.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested by Finance leadership.

Financial Reporting Accountant Summary

The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes for a fast-paced advertising and marketing agency. This role will prepare and analyze financial statements, maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, support the month-end close process, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies. The Financial Reporting Accountant will partner closely with Finance, Account Management, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to analyze agency financial performance, support client and project accounting, and provide accurate and timely financial information to leadership.
