Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Accountant/Auditor. An accountant/Auditor is responsible for, but not limited to, a broad range of audit, accounting and financial reporting duties. This position requires in-depth knowledge and the ability to perform all aspects of government accounting in a team environment. Work is performed under the direction of the Financial & Accounting Supervisor.

Primary Functions

• Account reconciliations
• Agency fund accounting
• Bond Issuance and Debt management
• Budget accounting and project management
• Capital asset accounting
• Cash management and investment accounting
• Maintaining chart of accounts
• Monitoring general ledger transactions and account balances
• Perform detailed analysis of financial data and investigate and resolve reporting discrepancies
• Preparing various financial reports, including Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
• Processing journal entries
• Revenue accounting and analysis
• Transparency requirements
• Unclaimed property accounting and reporting

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Must have at least two (2) to three (3) years of accounting/audit experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
• Experience with MUNIS Software and Odyssey Software preferred.
• Candidates must possess intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• The ability to plan, organize and complete work in a timely manner is essential.
• Must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes.
