Job summary

Collin County Government is seeking an Accountant/Auditor to handle a broad range of accounting and auditing duties and help maintain transparency requirements. Work is performed under the direction of an Audit Manager.

The role involves processing open records requests, analyzing agency funds and revenues, and monitoring balances while coordinating with IT on system issues and upgrades. A strong background in government accounting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
• 2–3 years of accounting/audit experience is required.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with acceptable driving record is required.

Collin County is seeking candidates for the position of Accountant/Auditor. An Accountant/Auditor is responsible for, but not limited to, a broad range of accounting and auditing duties, including helping to maintain transparency requirements. Work is performed under the direction of an Audit Manager.

Primary Functions

• Processing open records requests.
• Accounting for and analyzing agency funds and revenues.
• Monitoring account balances; auditing and reconciling accounts.
• Acting as a liaison and subject matter expert for the financial system.
• Working with IT to resolve issues with accounting and reporting systems and upgrades.
• Helping train County employees with system upgrades and involvement in testing and implementation of new financial systems as needed.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess the knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes.
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Must have at least two (2) to three (3) years of accounting/audit experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.

Applicant should understand and have the ability to apply the principles and practices of accounting and reporting, government accounting, and budgeting. Experience with system testing, implementations, and upgrades is needed, with a background in working with the MUNIS system strongly preferred.
