Job summary

Assumption Parish Police Jury seeks an Accountant/Auditor to prepare federal programs budgets and oversee the parish budget. The role maintains fixed asset listings, tracks purchases and disposals, and provides fiscal reporting for grants and federal programs.

You will interact with monitors and auditors, prepare records for annual audits (possible extended hours during Jan–Jun), and support civil defense efforts during disasters. Occasional Police Jury meetings may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Business Management with at least five years of governmental or general accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Excel and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the fixed asset listing, tracking all purchases and disposals of assets.
• Provide fiscal reporting for grants and federal programs.
• Compile and record data in journals and ledgers of various federal, state, and parish programs.
• Interact one-on-one with program monitors and auditors.
• Prepare all parish records/documents necessary for the annual financial audit, may require extended hours during January–June.
• Be available during natural disasters to assist the OHSEP Director in civil defense and hazardous matter activities.
• Attend Police Jury meetings on an irregular basis as needed.

• Maintain the fixed asset listing, tracking all purchases and disposals of assets.
• Provide fiscal reporting for grants and federal programs.
• Compile and record data in journals and ledgers of various federal, state, and parish programs.
• Interact one-on-one with program monitors and auditors.
• Prepare all parish records/documents necessary for the annual financial audit, which may require working hours outside the normal workday during the audit period of January through June.
• Be available during natural disasters to assist the OHSEP Director in civil defense and hazardous matter activities.
• Attend Police Jury meetings on an irregular basis as needed.

Qualifications

• College degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Business Management (preferred), with at least five (5) years of work experience in governmental or general accounting.
• Proficiency in Excel and ability to multi-task on a daily basis.
