The Associate Accountant at Southland Industries is primarily responsible for the fundamental aspects of the company’s financial recordkeeping, including recording transactions, managing accounts and reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable laws.

The role processes financial transactions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable or payroll, maintains accurate records, resolves basic discrepancies, and answers internal and external inquiries.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• 0–3 years accounting experience preferred.
• Basic accounting knowledge required.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Confidentiality and discretion required.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Processing of assigned financial transactions (AP/AR or payroll).
• Establish and maintain accurate records ensuring data integrity.
• Research and resolve basic accounting discrepancies; escalate complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and state/federal laws.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely manner.
