Job summary

NextDeavor is seeking an Accountant Analyst to support cost accounting and manufacturing finance, driving accurate product costing and variance analysis. The role partners with operations, supply chain and finance to improve reporting, controls and performance.

The position is on-site with a standard daytime shift (5x8, 40 hours/week) in Irvine, CA. Requires a BS degree and6+ years cost accounting/ manufacturing finance experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Typically six or more years of cost accounting or manufacturing finance experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of GAAP and applicable accounting regulations (Cost Accounting Standards and FAR).
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles: standard costing, inventory valuation, COGS, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data analysis.
  • Effective communication to present financial information to management and partners.
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, analyze, and report product costs, manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, and COGS.
  • Analyze material, labor, overhead, scrap, rework, and other cost drivers to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Support month-end close: journal entries, reconciliations, inventory analysis, variance reporting.
  • Maintain and review standard costs, BOMs, routings, and overhead rates with operations and supply chain.
  • Prepare financial and operational reports by collecting and summarizing cost and manufacturing data.
  • Explain cost variances and advise on corrective actions with operations and management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning for manufacturing costs and inventory.
  • Apply continuous improvement to improve cost accounting processes and controls.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects related to inventory, operations, systems, or process improvements.

Become a Key Player as an Accountant Analyst

You will support cost accounting and manufacturing finance to drive accurate product costing and variance analysis that inform management decisions. You will partner with operations, supply chain, and finance stakeholders to improve reporting, controls, and performance. This role works onsite on a standard daytime shift (5x8 days) supporting a 40-hour workweek.

Here's How You'll Make an Impact on the Team
  • Compile, analyze, and report cost accounting information including product costs, manufacturing variances, inventory valuation, and cost of goods sold
  • Analyze material, labor, overhead, scrap, rework, and other manufacturing cost drivers to identify trends and improvement opportunities
  • Support month-end close activities: prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, conduct inventory analysis, and produce variance reporting
  • Maintain and review standard costs, bills of material, routings, and overhead rates in coordination with operations and supply chain
  • Prepare financial and operational reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing cost, inventory, and manufacturing performance data
  • Partner with operations and management to explain cost variances, evaluate business performance, and recommend corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and applicable financial reporting requirements
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities related to manufacturing costs and inventory

Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful in This Role
  • Bachelor's degree (BS) required
  • Typically six or more years of related cost accounting or manufacturing finance experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applicable accounting regulations (including Cost Accounting Standards and/or Federal Acquisition Regulations, as applicable)
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles: standard costing, inventory valuation, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing variance analysis
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to collect and analyze data and draw valid conclusions
  • Effective communication skills to present financial information to management, operations, supply chain, and other business partners
  • Demonstrated ability to support continuous improvement initiatives and work effectively in a team environment
