Job description

When AI gets the details wrong in your field, real people pay for it. The people who know the work best have to be the ones training these models. You’re not being replaced by AI. You’re making sure it’s used accurately and safely.

How You'll Contribute
  • Design challenging, realistic accounting tasks based on day-to-day professional workflows, including scenarios, prompts, and self-authored supporting files such as trial balances, schedules, source documents, prior-year workpapers, and correspondence.
  • Evaluate frontier AI model outputs against professional accounting standards for deliverables such as reconciliations, technical accounting memos, tax provision workpapers, audit plans, disclosure checklists, and management-letter comments.
  • Compare model outputs produced from identical prompts and files, determine which response is stronger, and document specific strengths and deficiencies.
  • Write detailed grading rubrics defining the required accounting treatment, calculations, disclosures, support, and conclusions for a correct deliverable.
  • Identify and document concrete model failures, including misapplied standards, unsupported conclusions, untied numbers, fabricated or ignored source material, missed disclosures, and misunderstandings of the assignment.
  • Contribute expertise across areas including audit, technical accounting, tax, close and consolidation, financial reporting, internal audit, SOX, and related accounting workflows.
  • Review and refine tasks created by other accounting experts as needed.
  • Work remotely on a flexible schedule for at least 10 hours per week; engagement is available to candidates in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia/New Zealand, and Ireland.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in public accounting, corporate accounting, audit, tax, financial reporting, or a related accounting discipline is preferred; candidates with less experience may be considered where practical experience is substantial.
  • Currently pursuing or holding a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Depth in at least one area: audit and assurance; technical accounting and financial reporting under US GAAP and/or IFRS; individual, corporate, partnership, or provision tax; controllership, close, and consolidation; cost and managerial accounting; internal audit and SOX; or forensic accounting.
  • Working familiarity with adjacent accounting workflows and the ability to assess whether work in those areas was completed correctly.
  • Practitioner-level spreadsheet skills, including building and reviewing schedules, reconciliations, roll-forwards, and supporting analyses.
  • Current or recent individual-contributor, hands-on accounting experience; candidates whose experience is solely managerial are less likely to be a fit.
  • Full professional or native-level written and spoken English, with the ability to explain complex professional reasoning clearly and identify why an answer is incorrect.
  • Strong attention to detail, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to verify claims against underlying numbers, source documents, and facts.
  • Ability to work independently, interpret feedback critically, research answers when needed, and learn unfamiliar workflows from written materials.
  • General familiarity with AI and LLM tools such as Claude or ChatGPT, with sound judgment for distinguishing well-reasoned work from plausible but incorrect output.
  • Availability of at least 10 hours per week.
  • CPA, CA, ACCA, or an equivalent credential is preferred but not required; credential holders may be asked to verify their credential during assessment.
  • Successful completion of an unpaid skills assessment of approximately 2 to 4 hours; all assessment work must be completed independently without AI tools.
  • Pay of $40 to $125 USD per hour, paid via PayPal on a regular cadence.
  • Fully remote, project-based contract work with flexible scheduling.
  • Minimum commitment of approximately 10 hours per week, with no weekly maximum and full-time hours available.
  • Multi-day task timers that allow work to be completed across several days.
  • Access to Claude and ChatGPT through the project; no personal subscription is required.
  • Opportunity to apply real-world accounting expertise to improve frontier AI systems.
  • Structured onboarding, project instructions, training materials, a dedicated Slack channel, office hours, and expert review feedback.
