Summary: The Accountant 3, Supervisor, Payroll, is responsible for providing payroll services to district employees through the coordination of payroll-related functions between the Payroll Department staff, Data Processing, Personnel, Cash Management, multiple school sites, and School Board employees. The Accountant 3, Supervisor, Payroll will ensure payroll functions and recording of financial transactions are in compliance with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Social Security Administration, Florida Statutes, Division of Retirement, Department of Education, School Board policies and procedures, and various union contacts.
Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in government accounting, finance, or business (accounting, finance, bookkeeping, Student Information System data processing, internal auditing, etc.). A master's degree in accounting may be substituted for one (1) year of the experience requirement.
