These are entry-level positions. Incumbents may require additional training and experience to gain full proficiency in some or all assigned job responsibilities.Job Responsibilities:Accounts Receivable:Records and monitors accounts receivable transactions, including billings, deposits, and cash receipts.Prepares and processes customer invoices and other receivable transactions.Applies and reconciles incoming payments to outstanding receivables.Research and resolves payment discrepancies, unapplied cash, and outstanding balances.Performs daily bank and account reconciliations and investigates variances.Records appropriate journal entries and other accounting adjustments.Monitors outstanding receivables and assists with collection activities.Reconciles AR subsidiary records to the general ledger.Maintains supporting documentation and prepares routine financial reports.Communicates with agencies, customers, and internal program areas regarding billing and payment matters.General Responsibilities :Assists with preparing financial reports for management.Assist in development of policies and procedures for assigned areas.Maintains complete, accurate and readily accessible accounting files that conform to applicable policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.Follow guidelines for providing information to others and auditors when necessary.Maintains confidentiality of records, files and other documentation.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of business operations in AR and APKnowledge of accounting principles, practices, and theoryAbility to retrieve information from the accounting system, analyze, identify and resolve discrepanciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.Strong oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines in a high-volume environment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.This position may require some travel.Completion of a pre-employment background check is required .DOAS participates in a hybrid work environment andtelework is encouraged with some days in the office required.MINIMUM ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following items below.
