Exciting Accountant contract opportunity with our insurance client in Oakland, CA.
Contract Duration: 6 months through the end of the year.
Primarily working from home with a few meetings a quarter in the Oakland, CA offices.
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience with applications such as Oracle Cloud (Fusion) General Accounting module, Business Objects, Salesforce.
- Knowledgeable with group profit and loss accounting concepts and healthcare insurance (e.g., premiums, claims, etc.).
- Form 5500 preparation and knowledge.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
2+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree.
Additional Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent required.

- Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Strong organizational, time management, and multi-tasking abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Oracle Financial or ERP software experience.

What You Will Be Doing
Daily Responsibilities
- Performing mid-level to complex accounting functions in compliance with GAAP and statutory requirements.
- Participating in monthly close activities and preparing internal and external reports.
- Preparing and posting moderately complex journal entries.
- Generating internal financial performance reports and narratives, creating ad hoc reports, and validating data output.
- Performing account reconciliations and analyzing variances, including key drivers and trends.
- Processing and reporting transactions in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Participating in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Participating in special projects within the division and cross-functional teams.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvement and proposing recommendations.
- Researching problems and proposing solutions proactively.
- Assisting with internal and external audit requirements.
- Performing other duties as requested or assigned.
- Generating Form 5500s.
