Job summary

Selby Jennings seeks an Accountant to join its Compensation Accounting team in New York. You will support month-end close, financial reporting, and analysis of compensation-related activity within a fast-growing fintech environment.

The role requires 3+ years of accounting experience in fintech or financial services, a Bachelor's in Accounting, and strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables and Lookups); CPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of accounting experience in public accounting, fintech or financial services.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred, with advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Lookups, and data analysis capabilities.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, reconciliations, and internal controls, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis of compensation-related financial activity
• Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior-period results, investigating discrepancies and providing meaningful financial insights
• Assist with financial reporting, audit support, and management reporting while partnering with internal stakeholders to address accounting and business needs
