Job summary

Cooper Riis in Asheville, NC is seeking an Accountant to support financial operations for residents, staff and donors. This full-time role includes preparing and posting journal entries, invoicing, and monthly reporting.

The ideal candidate has a BA/BS in accounting, 4 years in public accounting or nonprofit settings, and strong Excel/Word skills. Experience with intermediate accounting and audits is a plus.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in public accounting or accounting within nonprofit organizations.
• BA or BS in accounting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Knowledge of intermediate accounting.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and distribution of all invoices.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Maintain regular contact with resident families regarding financial issues.
• Receive and enter all payments from residents, staff, and donors daily.
• Assist in processing accounts payable invoices and monthly sales, tax reports, and refunds.
• Assist with reconciliations: bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet, income statement.
• Generate and distribute monthly departmental income statements to program leaders.
• Prepare weekly trend report on accounts receivable.
• Assist with annual audit and Form 990 preparation.
• Assist CFO with quarterly board report and budget preparation.
• Back-up payroll review and processing.

Pay:$54,000 – $67,500 based on experience

Responsibilities:

• Preparing and distribution of all invoices
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Maintain regular contact with resident families regarding all financial issues
• Receive and enter all payments from residents, staff, and donors on a daily basis
• Assist in entering accounts payable invoices and with monthly sales, tax reports, and semi-annual claim for refund
• Assist with various account reconciliations: bank accounts, credit cards, balance sheet and income statement
• Generate and distribute a monthly departmental income statement to program leaders
• Prepare weekly trend report on accounts receivable
• Assist with annual audit and Form 990 preparation
• Assist CFO with review and preparation of quarterly board report and budget preparation
• Serve as a back-up to payroll review and processing
