Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a timely month-end close with journal entries, reconciliations, and related tasks.
  • Own core accounting responsibilities and ensure accurate, timely reporting across departments.
  • Maintain and improve documentation for entries and reconciliations; support external audits.
  • Collaborate with departments to manage accruals, including CAM, insurance, PPT, and lease-related expenses.
  • Prepare and review inventory reconciliations; record adjustments and related entries; manage prepaid expenses and amortization.
  • Provide backup support for payroll, property-related expenses, and cash items.

The Accountant is responsible for preparing accounting entries, schedules, and reconciliations for assigned accruals, inventory, current assets, and other day-to-day accounting tasks. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of transactions in compliance with US GAAP and Company policies.

Key Responsibilities;
General
  • Facilitate a timely month-end close through completion of assignments, journal entries, reconciliations, and other assigned tasks.
  • Take ownership of core responsibilities below, communicating cross-functionally to ensure complete, accurate, and timely reporting.
  • Maintain and improve documentation supporting all assigned entries and reconciliations
  • Support external audit requests
Accrued Expenses and Lease Support
  • Collaborate with other departments to obtain support for accrual estimates related to common area maintenance (CAM), insurance, personal property tax (PPT), and other lease-related expenses.
  • Review invoices and lease-related charges for accuracy, coding, and appropriate supporting documentation.
Inventory and Other Current Assets
  • Prepare and review inventory reconciliations, including researching variances between subledger, inventory records, and the general ledger.
  • Record inventory adjustments, reclasses, and related journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting procedures.
  • Maintain prepaid expense schedules and work directly with other departments to ensure correct categorization and coding.
  • Record monthly prepaid expense amortization.
Other
  • Be prepared to support and/or serve as backup resource for various other tasks including payroll, property-related expense tracking, and cash-related items
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2-4 years of experience in corporate accounting, preferably with exposure to inventory, prepaid expenses, and leases.
  • Understanding of US GAAP related to assigned responsibilities
  • Proficiency in ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliations).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Progress towards CPA licensure
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills for collaborating with project managers and finance teams.
Work environment & physical requirements
  • Hybrid work environment: 3 days in-office at our Mesa, AZ headquarters and 2 days remote
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
