Job summary

Vehlo is seeking a Staff Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting for multiple portfolio companies. You will be central to integrating new acquisitions into our financial operations and driving process improvements across the team.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of accounting experience (SaaS preferred), strong Excel skills, and a proactive approach to accuracy and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in accounting preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, SaaS preferred.
• Exceptional data analysis and high proficiency in Excel.
• Strong analytical and business skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage the general ledger for multiple entities.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations and journal entries.
• Daily bank account monitoring and reconciliation.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts (prepaids, accrued expenses, long-term assets, deferred revenue).
• Prepare ad hoc reports and collaborate with auditors.
• Identify process improvements and implement where feasible.
• Monitor and file sales tax and other tax items as needed.
• Assist auditors and coordinate requests.
• Support transition of subsidiaries from cash to accrual accounting.

You will play an active role as we acquire and integrate new companies into our financial operations, and provide insight on process improvements for the team.What You’ll Do:Prepare and manage the general ledger for multiple companies in the portfolioPrepare monthly account reconciliations and various journal entriesDaily bank account monitoring and reconciliationAdjust and reconcile balance sheet accounts such as prepaid expenses, accrued expenses, long term assets, deferred revenue, intercompany reconciliations and accounting workpapers and statementsPrepare other ad hoc reports as requiredIdentify areas for process improvement and implement where feasibleMonitor and file sales tax and other tax related items as neededAssist with and act as a point-of-contact for auditor requestsHelp to transition newly acquired subsidiaries from cash to accrual accounting and integrate the acquired finance operationsWhat You’ll Need:Bachelors Degree, in accounting preferred.3 years of progressive experience with a focus on SaaS preferredExperience with Sage Intacct is a plusExceptional data analysis and high proficiency in Excel requiredStrong analytical and business skills including the ability to grasp the big pictureMust work well under pressure, be able to interact in a team environment, be able to adapt quickly to change, have a deep attention to detail and strong customer service skills.Capable of working independently and managing multiple projects at the same time with a commitment to timely delivery in a fast-paced team environment for a high growth company.Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skillsAbility to multi-task in fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasksExperience with the following items is a plus: ERP migrations, Avalara Sales Tax, ClaudeNote: This job description is intended to outline the general responsibilities and requirements of the role.
