Job summary

Our client is a well-established luxury homebuilder in the Charlotte market seeking an Accountant to take ownership of the company’s accounting function and support financial health and expansion.

The Accountant will manage all aspects of full-cycle accounting, including job cost, WIP, and coordination with leadership on budgeting and forecasting within a growing construction environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, project accounting, and construction financial reporting.
• Experience handling full-cycle accounting responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, growing environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reports.
• Maintain job cost accounting and track project costs, budgets, and profitability.
• Process subcontractor payments and vendor invoices.
• Monitor construction draws and manage cash flow reporting.
• Reconcile work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and support project cost analysis.
• Prepare and file sales tax and other regulatory filings as required.
• Coordinate with external CPA firm for year-end reviews, audits, and tax preparation.
• Manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
• Oversee payroll processing and related reporting, if applicable.
• Develop and improve accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls.
• Partner with ownership and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Provide timely and accurate financial information to support business decisions.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an Accountant to their team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to take ownership of the company's accounting function and play a key role in supporting the financial health and continued expansion of the business.

Position Summary

The Accountant will serve as the sole accounting professional for the organization and be responsible for managing all aspects of full-cycle accounting. This individual will work closely with company leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, and support operational decision-making.
