Job summary

Sightpath Medical is seeking an Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team in Bloomington, MN. This onsite role focuses on month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, and supporting audits. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of experience and a solid understanding of US GAAP, with strong Excel and GP ERP proficiency.

You will collaborate with the Controller and accounting staff, take on increasing ownership, and contribute to process improvements as the company grows.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Hands-on month-end close experience.
• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations.
• Fixed asset accounting experience.
• Strong Excel skills (PivotTables, lookups, large data).
• Experience with an ERP system; GP is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills across the organization.

Responsibilities

Accountant

Location: Bloomington, MN

Schedule: Full-time, onsite

This position is onsite in Bloomington, MN. We are not considering remote candidates at this time.

Join Sightpath Medical, a leading provider of mobile cataract and LASIK services across the U.S. As part of our Finance & Accounting team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working closely with colleagues across the organization.

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional with 3-5 years of experience who enjoys improving processes, solving problems, and understanding the \"why\" behind the accounting. You will work closely with the Controller and accounting team through the monthly close process, with the opportunity to take on increasing ownership and responsibility as you grow in the role.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly and year-end close process while meeting established deadlines.


• Prepare monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, cash activity, and other miscellaneous transactions.


• Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.


• Support fixed asset accounting.


• Record daily cash activity and prepare monthly bank reconciliations.


• Maintain accurate general ledger activity and support the integrity of financial records.


• Identify unusual or unexpected activity and work with the accounting team to research and resolve issues.


• Support annual audit and tax activities, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.


• Assist with process improvements that increase the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes.


• Support accounting activities for multiple entities as the company grows.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of accounting experience.


• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• Hands-on experience with month-end close activities.


• Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and its application to day-to-day accounting activities.


• Experience with balance sheet reconciliations and the ability to research and resolve discrepancies.


• Experience with fixed asset accounting.


• Strong Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, and working with large datasets.


• Experience working with an ERP/accounting system; experience with Great Plains (GP) is a plus.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.


• Ability to recognize unusual activity and take ownership of issues through resolution.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the organization.
