Overview
As a key member of the Accounting team, this position will be responsible for preparing journal entries and have an integral role in month-end reporting. The Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring adequate internal controls, including end-user computer applications controls, are designed and effectively implemented. The Accountant will also assist in the preparation of account reconciliations, updating workpapers, and compiling ad hoc audit requests.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration
- Strong communicator in the English language, both written and oral
- Highly competent in the use of the MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio)
- Experience with data analysis tools is an asset
- Self-confidence, critical thinking, ability to influence, ability to work independently and willingness to work extended hours (if necessary)
- High level of time management and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior accounting internship or position within the accounting field
- Experience with accounting platforms such as Quickbooks, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, CMS/Epicor or OneStream
- Understanding of internal control concepts
- Progress towards CPA or equivalent qualification
Responsibilities
- Preparation of journal entries
- Understanding of the basic financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, and trial balance)
- Understanding of design and operation of internal controls
- Review monthly financial information to ensure reasonability
- Preparation of account reconciliations and ability to investigate variances in timely manner
- Takes ownership of workpapers and looks to improve/update workflows to maximize efficiency
- Plan, coordinate and execute various ad hoc queries and reports used by all management levels in development of key strategy and operational decision making
