Overview:

We’re seeking a seasoned Account Supervisor with the ability to lead integrated communications campaigns for a suite of clients in our sports and lifestyle practice including award-winning original docuseries, professional sports leagues and teams, consumer brands activating in sports and entertainment, and sports and music talent. This role requires excellent writing skills, fluency in cultural storytelling to craft compelling narratives that resonate deeply with diverse audiences, strong media relations, and relationships across traditional (e.g., print, online, broadcast) and emerging (e.g., substacks, podcasts, social/digital video, e-newsletters) platforms as well as the savvy to elevate executive thought leadership and award campaigns.

You’ll lead with proactive client service, approach challenges creatively and expertly manage complex timelines, budgets, and cross-team workflows. This position will oversee strategy and execution across earned media (and occasionally influencer + social), managing up to account and agency leadership while inspiring and mentoring junior team members to uplevel work across the agency. You will own client communications, deliver compelling data-driven insights, and develop innovative campaigns that strengthen client partnerships and drive measurable success.

Account Supervisor Primary Responsibilities:

Client Service

• Lead accounts with a collaborative, solutions-first mindset and set a high bar for quality across teams.

• Serve as a key point of contact for clients, translating needs into actionable strategy.

• Provide counsel on both strategic and tactical matters, linking communication efforts to client business goals.

• Anticipate client needs and proactively deliver strategic guidance, industry insights, and trend-based recommendations.

• Build strong relationships with clients and partner agencies through transparency, communication, and reliability.

• Stay abreast of trends, industry developments, and competitor activity to inform client programs.

Account + Team Management

• Work alongside practice and account leadership to provide strategic counsel and oversight management to account teams in a proactive and efficient manner to meet the client’s desired goals.

• Oversee project management across multiple campaigns, including media briefings, events, press materials, and product launches.

• Manage up to account leads regarding progress on deliverables, media outreach processes, and actively offer solutions to pivot where needed or enhance the project

• Manage day-to-day operations across teams, resolving challenges and identifying pivots if or as they arise/ are needed

• Foster team development through mentorship, feedback, and day-to-day support that drives accountability

and growth for junior and mid-level staff.

• Identify and flag to leadership any staffing challenges or resource needs on account teams

Strategic Planning

• Lead client meetings and planning sessions; brainstorm with clients in real-time about media strategy and approach

• Lead internal account team strategy sessions and the corresponding development, planning and execution of client media strategies

• Draft, edit, and contribute to strategic planning documents including KPIs, tactical plans, and timelines.

• Conduct competitor and industry audits to surface relevant, timely campaign insights.

• Identify newsjacking, event tie-ins, and trend-to-earned media opportunities through the use of tools and trend analysis.

Media Relations

• Develop and lead media strategies that generate high-impact placements across traditional and emerging platforms (Substack, podcasts, newsletters, digital video).

• Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier media emerging media, with a focus on target outlets and media members for account teams

• Lead daily proactive and reactive media outreach efforts.

• Provide media training and create briefing documents, talking points, and messaging for client spokespeople.

• Staff and moderate interviews and assist in the planning and execution of media-facing events (e.g., media tours, briefings, experiential activations).

What You Need to Have (Education + Experience Requirements):

• 5-7 years of experience working in a full-time role either in a public relations agency or the communications department of a company in a relevant industry

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, English, marketing, or a related field preferred

• Experience working with and a passion for entertainment and sports entities, brands, and/or personalities

• Experience managing staff across multi-dimensional accounts (both up and down)

• Demonstrated proficiency in drafting media materials (biographies, press releases, media advisories, press kits, etc.) and media relations (ability to identify and craft creative story angles, developing targeted media pitches, and outreach to traditional and emerging media)

• Existing media rolodex and proven track record of fostering strong relationships with journalists to generate meaningful earned media coverage – with a portfolio of sports and lifestyle related clips

• Ability to maintain a professional, client-ready demeanor and presence; keep a high standard of ethics and etiquette in all communications and interactions

• Experience in providing guidance to entry level staffers; strong team building and mentorship aptitude

• Superior oral and written communication skills; an excellent eye for consistency, proofreading, and editing

• Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency with Muck Rack, Cision, TV Eyes, Meltwater, Podchaser and other database + monitoring tools

• Ability to travel as necessary contingent related to client and new business needs
