About the Role

We are seeking an Account Sales Executive to help grow and strengthen our long-standing relationship with the State of Texas through the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) program. Working alongside the internal pursuit team, this individual will expand relationships across existing agencies and higher-education clients, identify new opportunities, and help position the account for successful renewal and long-term growth.

This is a relationship-driven, field-oriented role for a proven public sector dealmaker who understands Texas agencies, Texas DIR procurement, and the discipline required to sell within a regulated environment. The successful candidate will combine account farming and business development skills with strong time management, executive presence, and a service-oriented approach to clients.

Key Responsibilities
Account Growth and Business Development
  • Partner with the Account Team to execute the growth strategy for the Texas DIR account and its portfolio of state agencies and higher-education clients.
  • Expand relationships within existing departments while identifying whitespace and new opportunities across the broader Texas public sector ecosystem.
  • Build, qualify, and advance a healthy pipeline of pursuits, including technology services opportunities typically ranging from approximately $2 million to $8 million.
  • Contribute to annual sales objectives expected to be in the range of $15 million to $20 million in bookings or revenue, as assigned.
  • Support renewal strategy, helping protect the existing relationship while positioning the organization for additional scope and long-term growth.
  • Engage the Texas vendor and partner community to uncover opportunities, strengthen market connectivity, and improve competitive positioning.
Client Relationship Management
  • Develop trusted relationships with agency leaders, technology executives, procurement stakeholders, and other decision-makers across the State of Texas.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the Austin market by meeting clients, walking agency halls, and building credibility through consistent, in-person engagement.
  • Understand the priorities, constraints, funding environment, and procurement practices of individual Texas agencies and translate them into actionable account plans.
  • Bring a service-oriented mindset to client engagement, with a focus on responsiveness, follow-through, and mission outcomes.
  • Gather client feedback, identify emerging needs, and connect the right internal capabilities to each opportunity.
Sales Execution and Pursuit Leadership
  • Lead or support opportunities through the full sales lifecycle, from relationship development and qualification through proposal, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Coordinate effectively with solution groups, bid managers, bid teams, delivery leaders, and partners to develop compliant, differentiated, and client-focused proposals.
  • Manage competing priorities across a large, complex account while maintaining disciplined opportunity tracking, forecasting, and follow-up.
  • Navigating public sector rules governing communications, procurement, and vendor engagement, knowing when and how outreach is appropriate.
  • Monitor competitors, contract vehicles, agency initiatives, and market activity to anticipate upcoming pursuits and shape account strategy.
Solutions and Services

The Account Sales Executive will help position a broad portfolio of modernization and managed services capabilities, including:

  • Cloud and private cloud services
  • Artificial intelligence, including private AI proof-of-concept and production opportunities
  • Cybersecurity
  • Digital transformation and application modernization
  • Infrastructure and managed services
  • Mainframe, desktop, network, and application services
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of enterprise technology services, consulting, managed services, cloud, software, or digital solutions sales experience.
  • Demonstrated success developing business and expanding strategic accounts in state government, higher education, or a closely related public sector market.
  • Working knowledge of Texas government, Texas state agencies, and the Texas DIR procurement environment, supported by credible relationships or market connectivity.
  • Proven ability to build pipeline, advance complex pursuits, and close multimillion-dollar technology services opportunities.
  • Experience managing long sales cycles involving procurement, legal, delivery, technical, partner, and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong executive communication, negotiation, account planning, forecasting, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work from the Austin market and maintain regular in-person client engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Established relationships across Texas agencies, higher education institutions, the vendor community, or Texas DIR partners.
  • Experience with large, multi-agency or “account within an account” environments.
  • Background selling cybersecurity, cloud, AI, application modernization, infrastructure, mainframe, or managed services.
  • Experience supporting a major contract renewal, recompete, or competitive public sector bid.
  • Familiarity with both relationship-led account farming and net-new business development.
What Success Looks Like
  • Quickly builds credibility with the internal account team and Texas public sector stakeholders.
  • Turns the existing pipeline and client footprint into qualified, winnable opportunities.
  • Expands relationships into additional agencies, departments, and buying centers.
  • Balances near-term pursuits with the account’s renewal and long-term growth strategy.
  • Operates as a collaborative, accountable team player with excellent time and priority management.
  • Consistently demonstrates a client-first, service-oriented approach.
