Overview
The Commercial Lines Insurance Agency Account Manager is responsible for managing and servicing an established book of commercial clients, acting as the primary liaison between clients, insurance carriers, and agency producers. This role requires deep knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and strong client relationship skills to ensure client retention, policy accuracy, and fulfillment of insurance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance accounts day-to-day, including endorsements, policy renewals, audits, billing inquiries, and claims support.
- Secure appropriate insurance coverage for clients with admitted and non-admitted carriers, including quoting new business and remarketing renewals.
- Serve as the main contact for clients and insurance carriers, resolving complex coverage questions, underwriting issues, and billing disputes in a timely manner.
- Review client accounts proactively, recommend coverage adjustments, and analyze exposures to ensure adequate protection.
- Collaborate closely with sales producers to understand client needs, assist in proposal preparation, and support new business development.
- Maintain accurate client records and ensure all insurance policies and endorsements are correctly processed in the agency management system (e.g., EPIC).
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly and professionally to inquiries and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Stay current on industry trends, carrier underwriting guidelines, and regulatory changes to provide informed advice to clients.
- Assist with administrative duties such as preparing applications, monitoring policy expirations, and delivering policy documents.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing commercial insurance accounts, preferably in an agency or brokerage setting.
- Strong familiarity with commercial lines insurance products and coverages.
- Experience working with both admitted and surplus lines carriers.
- Proficiency with agency management software
- Valid Property & Casualty insurance license in New Jersey or ability to obtain license shortly after hire.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client accounts independently while providing exceptional service.
- Professional insurance designations such as ACSR, AAI, or CIC are a plus but not required.
