Job description

Account Manager | Industrial Water Solutions
Expansa | The Woodlands, TX
Full-Time | On-Site & Customer Visits | Up to 25% Domestic Travel
About Expansa

Expansa is a growing industrial water solutions company specializing in mobile water treatment, high-purity water systems, and engineered water purification equipment.

We serve major customers across power generation, petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, data centers, and other demanding industrial markets. Our solutions include mobile reverse osmosis (RO), deionization (DI), ion exchange resin regeneration, membrane systems, and engineered water treatment equipment.

We're expanding our equipment fleet, investing in our capabilities, and building a team to support our next stage of growth.

The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Account Manager with a strong background in B2B account management for large, Tier 1 industrial customers.

You'll serve as the primary commercial point of contact for an assigned portfolio of industrial customers, managing relationships with plant management, engineering, operations, procurement, and corporate purchasing teams.

This role requires someone who understands how large industrial organizations operate, can navigate complex purchasing processes, and is comfortable independently managing significant customer relationships.

You'll be responsible for customer retention, commercial account management, and identifying opportunities to expand Expansa's services across existing customers, facilities, and business units.

We're not looking for someone who simply processes orders or forwards customer requests. We need someone who takes ownership, exercises sound commercial judgment, and gets things done without constant supervision.

You'll work closely with operations, engineering, project management, and company leadership while maintaining ownership of the customer-facing commercial relationship.

What You'll Be Doing
Customer Relationship Management
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for assigned industrial customers, including major corporate and Tier 1 accounts.
  • Develop relationships with plant managers, maintenance personnel, engineers, procurement teams, and corporate decision-makers.
  • Navigate complex customer organizations involving multiple stakeholders, facilities, and purchasing requirements.
  • Conduct regular customer check-ins and plant visits to understand operational needs, upcoming projects, and customer concerns.
  • Develop account plans focused on customer retention, relationship development, and long-term growth.
  • Independently manage customer communications and commercial issues, ensuring timely follow-through and resolution.
Commercial & Rental Account Management
  • Manage customer inquiries, develop quotations, and follow up on rental equipment, membranes, resin services, replacement parts, and other water treatment needs.
  • Coordinate with engineering, operations, and project management to develop technically appropriate proposals and confirm equipment availability.
  • Negotiate pricing, rental agreements, extensions, and commercial terms within established company guidelines.
  • Manage commercial opportunities from initial inquiry through purchase order, including corporate procurement, vendor qualification, and master service agreements (MSAs).
  • Maintain regular customer communication throughout rental agreements, proactively managing renewals, extensions, and additional equipment requests.
  • Coordinate the commercial resolution of customer concerns, billing questions, and contract-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, quotation activity, and opportunity forecasts within the CRM.
  • Exercise sound commercial judgment regarding pricing, margins, contractual commitments, and customer expectations.
Account Growth & Revenue Development
  • Identify opportunities to expand revenue within existing customer accounts.
  • Promote Expansa's broader portfolio of mobile water treatment, resin regeneration, consumables, and technical services.
  • Develop relationships with additional facilities, departments, and business units within customer organizations.
  • Identify upcoming maintenance outages, equipment replacements, capital projects, and other customer initiatives.
  • Collaborate with business development personnel to transition newly acquired customers into long-term accounts.
  • Maintain accountability for customer retention, account growth, and overall commercial performance.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of industrial B2B account management experience, preferably serving large, Tier 1 industrial companies, utilities, or multinational organizations.
  • At least 2 years directly managing major industrial or enterprise-level accounts, including commercial negotiations, contract renewals, and account growth.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating complex customer organizations, including corporate procurement, plant-level decision-makers, and multiple facilities.
  • Proven ability to independently manage significant customer relationships and resolve commercial issues.
  • Experience preparing proposals, negotiating pricing, and managing customer contracts.
  • Strong understanding of industrial procurement processes, vendor qualification, and service requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage customer activities, opportunities, and forecasts.
  • Strong commercial judgment, attention to detail, and personal accountability.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card or be able and willing to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Ability to comply with customer-specific safety, security, PPE, and industrial facility access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing national accounts, strategic accounts, or major industrial customers with multiple operating facilities.
  • Background in industrial equipment rental, water treatment, pumps, compressors, boilers, filtration, or industrial services.
  • Familiarity with reverse osmosis, deionization, ion exchange, membranes, or industrial water purification.
  • Experience serving power generation, refining, petrochemical, manufacturing, or data center customers.
  • Experience managing recurring revenue accounts, equipment rentals, or industrial service agreements.
  • Familiarity with Pipedrive, MS Office365, and Google Workspace or similar business systems.

Direct water treatment experience is helpful but not required. We value proven industrial account management experience, technical aptitude, and strong commercial instincts.

This is an in-person, customer-facing position based at Expansa's office in The Woodlands, Texas. The role combines office-based account management with regular visits to customer plants, industrial facilities, and project sites.

We believe effective industrial account management requires being present, both with customers in the field and with our internal teams.

This is not a remote or work-from-home position.

Domestic travel of up to 25% may be required, including occasional overnight trips.

Who Will Succeed Here?

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded professional who enjoys building long-term relationships, understands the expectations of large industrial customers, and takes pride in being someone customers can rely on.

You’ll thrive here if you’re comfortable managing complex commercial discussions, coordinating across departments, protecting company margins, and making decisions without constant supervision.

This is not a traditional outside sales role focused on cold calling, nor is it an administrative customer service position. Our operations and project management teams own equipment deployment, field service scheduling, and technical execution. You’ll own the commercial customer relationship.

How We’ll Measure Success
  • Customer Retention: Maintaining strong relationships and minimizing preventable customer losses.
  • Account Growth: Increasing revenue and expanding services within assigned accounts.
  • Commercial Performance: Maintaining pricing discipline and protecting gross margins.
  • Customer Responsiveness: Providing timely quotations, follow‑ups, and commercial issue resolution.
  • Account Ownership: Independently managing relationships and reducing unnecessary escalations.
  • Forecast Accuracy: Maintaining reliable visibility into opportunities, renewals, and customer activity.
Why Expansa?

Expansa is building a different kind of industrial water solutions company. We're expanding our mobile treatment fleet, investing in our technical capabilities, and developing innovative solutions for customers who depend on reliable, high-quality water.

You’ll work directly with company leadership, manage meaningful customer relationships, and have the opportunity to influence how we grow and serve our customers.

We offer a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment where accountability matters, good ideas are welcome, and strong performance creates opportunities for advancement.

  • Competitive base salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Performance-based annual incentive opportunity.
  • Benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional development and advancement.
  • Direct exposure to company leadership and strategic business initiatives.

Expansa does not accept unsolicited resumes or candidate submissions from staffing agencies, recruiters, or search firms. Any unsolicited submissions will be considered the property of Expansa, and no placement fees will be paid without a prior written agreement.
