Position

Account Manager – Downstream Chemicals – New Orleans, LA (Full-time)

Job Summary

This role will be based out of the New Orleans, LA area. It is responsible for a semi-dedicated customer to ensure treatment chemicals and equipment are used effectively, economically, and safely in refineries, petrochemical facilities, and terminals while exemplifying Rizon’s mission and core behaviors.

Responsibilities
  • Manage chemical programs to maximize safety, reliability, and profitability of customers’ assets.
    • Implement Performance Management tools, set targets, and monitor contingency plans for each application.
    • Conduct routine service visits and lab/field testing as outlined in the customer contract; generate service reports and maintain inventory records.
    • Assist with technical issues and improve products, processes, and procedures.
    • Oversee Account Representatives and Service Technicians.
    • Coordinate with Supply Chain on the order and delivery of chemicals to maintain adequate on-site inventory levels.
  • Develop relationships and regularly interface with clients’ maintenance, operations, engineering, and turnaround teams.
  • Utilize digital tools such as the Rizon App, iView, or other digital tools to communicate and train refining companies.
  • Host quarterly business review meetings with key stakeholders to review safety performance, value‑add projects, KPIs, and financials.
    • Generate data analysis on program performance.
    • Identify value‑added growth opportunities.
  • Maintain the quality of Rizon-owned equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Regional Business Director for chemistry selection, service requirements, and presentations.
  • Review and approve team vacation requests, expense reports, stipends, and related items.
    • Challenge team members with new responsibilities and continuing education.
    • Lead training initiatives.
  • Evaluate safety performance of direct reports regularly.
  • Ensure that effective Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) are completed and reviewed.
  • Provide onsite safety liaison for projects in the individual’s control.
  • Complete incident reports and participate in cause findings and corrective action.
  • Communicate weekly and incidental safety briefs with direct reports.
  • Communicate all safety notifications upward and downward through the organization.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years process engineering or operations experience at a refinery or chemical plant.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with refinery or chemical plant operations.
  • Confidence in leading a team.
  • Must become familiar with RTI technologies.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple activities concurrently.
  • Comfortable meeting with client leadership.
  • Experience performing field service and lab testing.
Working Hours
  • Typically 9‑hour workdays from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (including 1 hour lunch), may extend up to 12+ hours if an emergency occurs.
  • As needed based on contract scope, but normally 5 days on‑site per week (Monday‑Friday).
  • Weekend coverage as needed.
  • Night shift as needed.
Working Conditions
  • Uneven or unstable ground, wet, muddy, or slippery surfaces and footings.
  • Outside locations in extreme temperatures and weather conditions including wind, rain, snow, and other inclement weather.
  • Routine, intermittent exposure to noise more than 85 dBA‑TWA.
  • Use of respiratory protection may be required; medical clearance and quantitative fit testing are required.
Physical Demands
  • Work at heights up to 150 ft (45 m) accessed via stairs, ladders, or lifts.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs without assistance.
  • Pushing or pulling up to 100 lbs without assistance.
  • Standing and walking for up to 12‑16 hours daily with minimal rest breaks; may exceed 10,000 to 15,000 steps per day.
  • Bending, stooping, twisting or turning valves, and using wrenches and hand tools repeatedly.
Travel Requirements

Ability to travel to assigned customer accounts.
