Job summary

Odyssey Logistics is seeking an Account Manager in Lombard, IL to maintain quality control in operations, build client trust, and drive shipment profitability. You will oversee end-to-end responsibilities from pickup to delivery, ensuring service excellence and strong relationships with customers.

The role emphasizes daily management of shipments, cross-functional collaboration, and reporting to support performance improvements within a fast-paced logistics environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of transportation experience in a similar role.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer relationships as primary contact.
• Understand customer's business requirements, objectives, and expectations.
• Oversee daily shipments to ensure timely fulfillment.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to develop SOPs.
• Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded.
• Identify opportunities for account expansion and cross-selling.
• Optimize transportation costs and routings.
• Collaborate on onboarding new customers and lanes.
• Develop and provide daily/weekly/monthly/ad hoc reports.

The Role:

Work Model: Onsite/Hybrid

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, Standard Business Hours

Travel Requirements: Yes; minimal local travel to other Odyssey offices may occasionally be required

Summary / Primary Role:

The Account Manager is responsible for maintaining quality control in operations. The primary responsibility is to emit confidence in our service and satisfy our valued customers. The Account Manager will strive to not only meet but exceed the expectations on service, communication, and relationship management. The Account Manager oversees customer accounts and will be accountable for the direction of operational performance, shipment profitability, and developing operational enhancements while taking responsibility for all aspects of each shipment from the point of pickup to final delivery.

What You’ll Do:

• Customer relationship management serving as the primary point of contact
• Clearly understand the customers business requirements, objectives, and expectations
• Oversee and coordinate daily shipments to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to develop customer and operational SOPs
• Ensure all customer expectations are met and exceeded
• Identify opportunities for account expansions and cross selling throughout the entire Odyssey portfolio of services
• Optimize transportation costs and routings to lower costs and enhance service
• Collaborate with commercial leads to manage all new customer and lane onboardings
• Develop and provide daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reports

What You Bring:

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred
• At least 3 years of transportation experience in a similar role; intermodal and/or rail experience is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel
• Familiarity with transportation operations reporting tools preferred
• Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good attention to detail
• Highly motivated with ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

Compensation & Schedule Details:

Base Pay Range: $75,000 to $90,000/year

Bonus Eligible: Yes

Commission Eligible: No

Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.
