The Role:

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Summary / Primary Role:

The Logistics Account Specialist (LAS) manages the day-to-day operational relationship with Enterprise Managed Services (EMS) clients, ensuring service requirements are met or exceeded.

The LAS is responsible for proactively managing shipments, securing carrier coverage, and executing activity within Odyssey's transportation management systems and, when required, the client's ERP system.

This role works closely with clients, carriers, Logistics Operations, and internal teams to support service delivery, process improvements, client retention, and growth opportunities.

What You'll Do:
  • Utilize Odyssey's propriety management systems, and from time to time, work within our client's ERP, to execute shipment management tasks throughout the cycle of the shipment cycle.
  • Principle transactional and strategic liaison between Odyssey clients and Carriers/Logistics Service Providers (LSPs).
  • Provide assistance in any shipment exception investigations and bring them to resolution that includes but is not limited to the recovery of shipments as well as the investigation and documented entry into the tracking system of pick-up and delivery changes that are client and carrier caused.
  • Proactively identify and resolve pick up, delivery or in-transit exceptions and minimize impact to our customers. Shipment exceptions typically are the result of mechanical breakdowns, transit delays, lost shipments, etc.
  • Act as primary point of escalation to obtain pick-up and delivery details as well as reasons for exceptions to scheduled dates when carrier has not responded to the tracking team after 2 requests.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all expedite tracking data for their respective client team(s).
  • Resolve any potential service failures and communicate appropriately and timely with clients providing service recovery options if unable to retain the original level of service.
  • Contribute documentation of all tasks to assist in the training of others.
  • Participate in training others as required.
  • Prioritize tasks in order of importance while handling frequent requests for information.
  • Maintain the highest level of service standards on all shipments.
  • Work cooperatively and productively with Logistics Operations leadership in order to complete tasks in accordance with Odyssey standards and any applicable contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Interface with IT as required for system enhancements and upgrades.
  • Consciously maintain a safe work environment.
  • Participate in client meetings as necessary.
  • Travel as necessary.
What You Bring:
  • High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Previous experience in logistics and transportation required.
  • Working knowledge of logistics and transportation documentation, terminology, and principles.
  • Willingness and ability to work weekends and after hours, as business needs require.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong customer service, organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills, with the ability to effectively interact with a variety of customers, vendors, and internal partners by phone and email.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain timely, complete, and accurate records.
  • Self-motivated and able to establish priorities, manage time effectively, and complete multiple tasks within required deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and operational needs while exercising sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, positive, and courteous approach when interacting with customers, vendors, visitors, and Odyssey team members.
  • Strong work ethics with a dependable and results-oriented approach.
  • Willingness and ability to identify opportunities for process and performance improvement.
  • Knowledge of general transportation rules and regulations is a plus.
