Job description

Location: Hybrid or on-site in Cleveland, OH (office is in Independence, OH)

Compensation: $60,000-$75,000 plus bonus tied to account growth and performance metrics

Growth Path: This role is built to grow into an Account Executive or Account Manager seat as Serve Freight scales.

We'd like to hire soon (1-3 weeks). We are actively interviewing and will move quickly for the right candidate.

Why This Role

Most account roles in freight ask you to chase the business and run it at the same time, and both suffer for it. This one is built differently.

Our Director of Sales brings in and owns the business. The relationships at the top, the strategy, the new logos, that is theirs. What we need is the person who runs those accounts day to day: keeps them growing, keeps execution tight, keeps the customer close, and holds the standard on every load. This is an ownership seat for the daily engine of the account, not a support desk.

In your first 90 days you will know every account cold and be the reason things run on time. In your first year you will own the day-to-day health and growth of the book while the Director focuses on winning new business. The work is visible, the impact is measurable, and the path to a full account executive seat is real.

If you want to be the operator a strong salesperson can hand the keys to, this is that seat.

About Serve Freight

Serve Freight is a third-party logistics provider specializing in high-stakes, time-sensitive, and complex shipments. We are building a multi-division logistics platform with a freight brokerage that runs like a machine.

Serve Freight is a founder-driven company with a clear vision and an accelerating growth curve. The company runs on high standards, a bias for pace, and a genuine willingness to invest in the people who help build it. You will work directly with the Director of Sales and leadership on the accounts and decisions that shape where the business goes next.

Location Flexibility:

We are open to the following arrangements, in order of preference:

  • On-site in Cleveland, OH, or Asheville, NC (relocation assistance available)
  • Hybrid in Charlotte or Atlanta with some travel to Asheville
  • Fully remote for exceptional candidates with a strong record of running accounts remotely in a freight brokerage environment
The Role

As Account Coordinator, you are the day-to-day owner of the accounts the Director of Sales brings in. They win the business and own the relationship at the top. You run everything underneath it: quoting, execution, follow-through, growth, and the daily customer relationship that keeps the business sticky.

You are comfortable quoting a load in Turvo (our TMS), chasing a truck through track and trace, updating a customer before they have to ask, logging the activity in HubSpot, and spotting the reorder the Director should know about, all in the same afternoon. You do not wait to be told where the gap is. You find it and you close it.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Own the day-to-day execution of assigned accounts, from quote through delivery, keeping every load on standard and every customer informed.
  • Serve as the primary daily point of contact for customers. Answer fast, follow through, and build the trust that keeps them shipping with us.
  • Grow the accounts. Spot new lanes, added volume, and reorder patterns, and hand qualified expansion to the Director of Sales.
  • Keep the Director of Sales free to sell. Run the day-to-day so they can focus on new business, and keep them current on account health, risks, and opportunities.
  • Coordinate with carrier sales and operations to get loads covered, moved, and delivered on time.
  • Hold the service standard on every shipment. Catch problems early, drive them to resolution, and escape before they reach the customer.
  • Keep account data clean and current in HubSpot and Turvo so the whole team has real visibility.
  • Track and report on account performance: volume, margin, on-time delivery, and service issues. Flag what is slipping before it becomes a problem.
  • Run track and trace, exception management, and after-hours coverage for time-critical and high-value freight.
  • Contribute to how we build the account model as we grow, including input on process and standards.
What You Will Do
First 30 Days
  • Learn every assigned account: the customer, their freight, their lanes, their expectations, and their history with us.
  • Shadow the Director of Sales and the operations team to understand how accounts are won and how they run today.
  • Take ownership of the daily quoting and order workflow for your accounts. Get fast and accurate.
  • Build relationships with your customer contacts and with carrier sales and ops so handoffs are clean.
  • Learn the tools: Turvo, HubSpot, Highway, DAT, and the rest of the stack.
  • Sit in the weekly operating cadence and start surfacing account risks and opportunities.
Days 31 to 90
  • Own the full day-to-day of your book. The Director should be able to step back from daily execution and trust it is handled.
  • Keep every account on the service standard: proactive updates, fast quotes, on-time delivery, clean data.
  • Start driving growth. Identify expansion inside existing accounts and hand qualified opportunities to the Director.
  • Run your first account performance reviews using real data: volume, margin, on-time, and service trends.
  • Tighten every handoff between sales, carrier sales, and ops so nothing drops.
Days 91 to 180+
  • Fully own the health and growth of your accounts. Retention and expansion are visible and trending up.
  • Be the reason customers stay. Relationships are strong enough that they come to you first.
  • Feed a steady stream of qualified growth opportunities to the Director of Sales.
  • Help build and refine the playbook for how coordinators run accounts as the team grows.
  • Take on additional accounts or service lines as capacity allows.
What You Bring
Required
  • 1 to 3 years in freight brokerage, logistics, or account coordination / customer service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong ownership. You treat the accounts like they are yours and you do not let things slip.
  • Excellent communication and follow-through. Customers trust you because you do what you say.
  • Comfortable with data and reporting. You can track volume, margin, and service metrics and report on what matters.
  • Organized under pressure. You can run multiple accounts and priorities without dropping the ball.
  • Self-directed. You find the gap and close it without waiting for direction.
  • Familiarity with a TMS (Turvo preferred) and CRM (HubSpot preferred), or the ability to learn tools fast.
Preferred
  • Experience with DAT, Highway, ID Scan, and standard freight coverage and compliance tools.
  • Exposure to project logistics, over-dimensional or overweight freight, or specialized high-stakes shipments.
  • Experience supporting a salesperson or sales team in a coordinator or account role.
  • Track record of growing existing accounts, not just maintaining them.
