Job Description

The Accommodations Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating and implementing interpreting, note-taking, alternative text and document remediation, captioning, and testing services under the supervision of the Assistant Director, Disability Support and Assistive Technology (Assistant Director).

The Coordinator is responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling for interpreting services, captioning, and note-taking services. The Coordinator works closely and collaboratively with the Accommodations Coordinators to implement testing accommodations. The Coordinator provides assistive technology support, as needed. This position manages the logistics of implementing accommodations, collaborates with ASAC staff and campus partners to determine procedures and policies, and communicates the same to the students and faculty who use them.

Under direction of the Assistant Director, oversees the student supervision and payment process for interpreting, captioning and note-taking services and tracks expenditures. This position collects data and reports on accommodation statistics.

Essential Functions
  • Administrative
  • The Coordinator is directly responsible for coordinating interpreting, note-taking, alternative text, and captioning services.
  • Collaborates with Accommodations Coordinator and Assistant Director to oversee and support accommodated testing functions. In conjunction with other Accommodations Coordinators, primarily responsible for major accommodated testing events at the end of Fall and Spring semesters. Collaborates with Assistant Director to determine and communicate policies and procedures. Under direction of the Assistant Director, oversees the payment process for interpreting, captioning and note-taking services and tracks expenditures. Collects data and reports monthly and annually on accommodations statistics. Fully cross-trains with the Accommodations Coordinators and Senior Administrative Assistant and fills in for the position as-needed. Responsible for supporting the work of the AD, as needed.
  • The Coordinator also supports front-desk operations as-need, especially during summer months.
  • Outreach and Consultation
  • Communicates procedures and policies as needed to students and faculty. Serves as point of contact for students and professors regarding the implementation of interpreting and testing accommodations. This position involves considerable communication with faculty regarding interpreting and testing needs and the implementation of disability-related accommodations. Problem-solves issues with respect to managing accommodations. Works with campus partners to ensure access to all university programs and services.
  • Supervision
  • Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling and supervising interpreters and note-takers, and ensuring notes are uploaded in a timely manner on Canvas.
  • Other Duties

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work
  • Full-time.
  • 35 hours per week.
  • A flexible schedule is preferred for this position.
  • Schedule coordination with other Accommodations Coordinators is essential.
  • Additional hours may be required at times.
Salary Range
  • $25.00 - $26.50 per hour.
Required Education And Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree with some professional experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to problem-solve and multi-task under pressure.
  • Ability to use and learn software programs used in tracking data and managing student information.
  • Attention to detail.
Preferred Education And Experience
  • Knowledge of or interest in assistive technology preferred.
  • Experience in a post-secondary setting and familiarity with individuals with disabilities strongly desired.
