Job summary

Apple is seeking a highly motivated Product Design engineer to join the accessories Product Design team in Cupertino, CA. You will design parts and assemblies in CAD, build and validate prototypes, analyze performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring new devices to mass production.

Responsibilities include creating 3D models and 2D drawings, presenting technical progress, and working with vendors to optimize design for manufacturability and cosmetics.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical engineering, product design, or comparable field.
• 1+ years experience in product design or equivalent.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD and creating 2D drawings.
• Fluency with mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with building prototypes or fabricating parts.
• Knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design with 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
• Building proof of concept prototypes.
• Conducting technical analysis of design performance.
• Creating and presenting slides overviewing technical work and design status.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and achieve project goals.
• Partnering with external vendors and internal teams to optimize designs for function, manufacturability, and cosmetics.
• Reviewing test results, conducting failure analysis, and driving corrective actions.
• Support module and system-level builds.
• International travel up to 20%.
