Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Sales Department Manager who excels at directive selling, sets and achieves sales goals and is dedicated to providing an exceptional customer experience.

You will recruit, hire, train and develop your team, assist the department manager in reaching volume and productivity targets, and coach staff to deliver outstanding service. Merchandising, inventory control and relationship-building on the floor are all part of the role.

Qualifications

• Ambition to grow as a leader and pursue future opportunities as a Department Manager.
• Track record of successful results in sales, productivity or similar.
• Competitive drive and entrepreneurial confidence for commission-based environment.
• Ability to set and achieve sales goals.
• Experience developing relationships with department/store managers and other leaders.
• Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Recruit, hire, train, develop and motivate your team.
• Assist the department manager in achieving department volume and productivity goals by developing and executing a business plan.
• Ensure salespeople deliver outstanding customer service by teaching, coaching and leading by example.
• Work with the department manager to ensure merchandising and presentation standards are met.
• Build long-lasting relationships and create a loyal customer following by actively selling on the floor.
• Assist the department manager in ensuring accurate inventory management and shrinkage control.
