Job Title: AccessionerDepartment: AccessioningLocation: Onsite, 200 Precision Road, Horsham, PAHours Per Week: 40Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday; 10:00 AM - 6:00 PMSUMMARYThe Accessioner is responsible for preparing specimens prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Accessioners are key to our laboratory operations as they handle each specimen and ensures accurate accessioning before they move to the laboratory. Each of our specimens represent one of our valuable patients.RESPONSIBILITIESProficient in specimen processing of one (1) or more product linesUnpacking, sorting, and verifying of specimens received from couriers and law enforcement agenciesLabels, aliquots, and delivers samples to appropriate testing area while maintaining chain-of-custodyEnters orders and demographic information into the computer systemPrepares both negative and positive in-house blindsDetermines specimen suitability based on established laboratory proceduresResolves problem specimens and follow procedures for specimen storage and disposalForwarding any misdirected specimen receivedMaintains and updates secure reporting instructions from clients and third-party administratorsMaintains a stocked, organized, and clean workstationMaintains confidentiality of all informationPerforms data entry of specimen demographic informationPerform all other duties as assigned by leadershipREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSNonePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience handling various specimen types including blood, oral fluid, urine and viral swabs in viral media or saline preferred.Experience in customer service, data/order entry, and working in a process driven environment preferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Moderate - These roles require a combination of movement and stationary work, including frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Tasks may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling, along with maintaining awareness in high-traffic or operational areas. Visual focus and spatial awareness are critical in facilities, logistics, or support settings. Emotional demands include managing interruptions, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas.
