Job summary
The Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) in Virginia is seeking a Website Content Specialist to manage the agency’s public website and intranet, ensuring accessible, user-friendly content and compliant publishing workflows.
You will post and update materials, apply WCAG 2.2 AA, ADA, and Section 508 standards, maintain taxonomy and metadata, and produce monthly accessibility analytics to guide improvements.
Qualifications
- WCAG 2.2 AA, ADA, and Section 508 remediation of web pages and documents.
- CMS experience with HTML/CSS updates and web content management.
- Automation accessibility checkers and SEO tools expertise.
- Strong quality control with attention to workflows and standards.
- Converting accessible documents using MS Office and Adobe tools.
Responsibilities
- Publish and update content on DHCD’s external website and Intranet.
- Ensure content aligns with taxonomy, navigation structure, and metadata standards.
- Remediate documents and perform HTML accessibility fixes to meet WCAG 2.2 AA, ADA, and Section 508 requirements.
- Apply SEO tags and support technical enhancements that improve site performance and user experience.
- Generate monthly analytics and accessibility reports, summarizing insights and actionable recommendations.
- Maintain clear documentation outlining CMS processes, workflows, and accessibility remediation procedures.
- Provide basic guidance to staff on preparing accessible, web-ready documents.
