Job summary

Niagara University is seeking an Accessibility Services Advisor to assist with reasonable accommodations for registered students with disabilities and to provide academic coaching for incoming first-year students. The role supports at-risk students and helps them improve study skills and college transition.

It requires confidentiality, liaison work with faculty, and policy development to address emerging needs; travel may be required. A Master's degree and NY driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Higher Education or related field is required.
• Two to three years of experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting or the equivalent is required.
• A valid New York State driver's license with the ability to travel domestically and internationally (Canada) as required by university operations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze documentation to determine reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities registered with Accessibility Services.
• Coordinate the provision of accommodations for registered students with disabilities; examples include testing accommodations, notetaking assistance, alternate format of print materials, and housing requests.
• Provide information about disability-related services to prospective and current students, parents, faculty, and others.
• Serve as a liaison between faculty and students with disabilities.
• Assist the Coordinator of Accessibility Services in developing new and/or updating policies and procedures.
• Assist in outcomes assessment work.
• Provide direct support to students with disabilities and at-risk students; help them with study skills, college transition, and utilizing university resources.
