Job summary

Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy is seeking an Accessibility Coordinator to lead inclusion efforts for the Education Department and Frick Environmental Center. This role oversees the Trackchair Program, Assistive Resource Library, and inclusive programming, coordinating staff and volunteers to expand participation.

Ideal candidate will advise staff on accommodations, build partnerships with disability organizations, and monitor outcomes with qualitative and quantitative measures to improve access

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build respectful and effective working relationships with participants, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of the Trackchair Program, including supervising the Trackchair Program Coordinator.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accessibility practices, procedures, tools, and resources to support programs and libraries.
  • Collaborate with staff to evaluate programs, facilities, trails, and visitor experiences with an accessibility lens and recommend improvements.
  • Advise and train staff and volunteers on accommodations, inclusive program design, event planning, communications, and assistive resources.
  • Cultivate relationships with disability organizations, healthcare providers, community partners, advocates, and stakeholders.
  • Establish systems for collecting, analyzing, and incorporating feedback to inform program improvements, accessibility planning, and capital projects.
  • Oversee the promotion, inventory, maintenance, and accessibility of the library and resources.
  • Document accessibility initiatives and prepare reports showing progress and impact.
  • Support activation of Outdoor Discovery Space, Sensory Nature Trail, and other accessible experiences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of PPC’s mission.
