Job summary

OMES is seeking an Accessibility and Content Editor to transform complex information into readable, 508-compliant materials while upholding editorial standards and branding across all channels.

The role focuses on quality control, ensuring accessibility and consistency in government communications, and supporting the Outreach Division in producing public information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or equivalent.
  • Or four years of professional editing/journalism experience.
  • Experience with remediation software, preferably CommonLook.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and assist with researching, writing and editing informational and educational publications, bulletins, powerpoints, pamphlets and other communication materials.
  • Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation errors following AP Style guides.
  • Fact-check customer content.
  • Ensure documents are 508-compliant, readable to the target audience and comply with OMES branding.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

As an Accessibility and Content Editor with OMES you will enjoy:

Full-time 40-hour work weeks.

Support the Outreach Division.

Salary is up to $52,500.00 based on education and experience.

Position is on-site in Oklahoma City, OK.

Position Summary

As an Accessibility and Content editor, you will serve as the final line of defense for quality and brand integrity. You will transform complex information into readable, 508-compliant materials while maintaining high editorial standards and consistent branding across all communication channels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and assist with researching, writing and editing informational and educational publications, bulletins, powerpoints, pamphlets and other communication materials.
  • Correct grammar, spelling and punctuation errors following AP Style guides.
  • Fact-check customer content.
  • Ensure documents are 508-compliant, readable to the target audience and comply with OMES branding.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position works in a comfortable office setting with a computer for a large percentage of the workday. The noise level in the work environment is usually mild. Occasional travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field or four (4) years of professional experience in journalism/copy editing with experience using remediation software, preferably CommonLook.
