Job summary

UAB is seeking a security technician to oversee physical security across campus buildings, including locking devices, alarms and CCTV monitoring. You will assist with design, installation, testing and preventive maintenance of alarm, access and keying systems, while staying current with security devices and related computer tech. A valid driver’s license and a HS diploma or GED are required.

Experience is preferred, and candidates must meet age and MVR requirements as part of the hiring criteria.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid US driver's license.
• One year of related experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old with three years of driving experience and a clean MVR.
• Ability to complete company training within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Oversee physical security, locking devices, alarm and monitoring systems for all UAB buildings.
• Assist with design, installation, testing, servicing and preventive maintenance of alarm, card access, CCTV, and lock systems.
• Assist with design, installation and maintenance of keying and security systems.
• Maintain knowledge of current security devices and department computer technology.
