Job summary

The University of South Alabama is seeking a Security Systems Technician to install and maintain mechanical and electronic access control systems on the Main Campus in Mobile, AL. You will manage keys, read blueprints, and coordinate access across facilities, while supporting key audits and system updates.

Requires a high school diploma, four years locksmith experience, a valid driver’s license, and LENEL training within six months of hire. On-site role with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Four years of locksmith experience.
• Valid driver's license with driving record suitable for university insurance.
• LENEL security system training within six months of employment.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Installs and maintains mechanical and electronic access control systems.
• Ensures key requests/returns comply with Key Management policies.
• Replaces/re-keys locks and duplicates keys as needed.
• Assists with distribution and retrieval of keys.
• Updates department key boxes.
• Reads/ analyzes blueprints; inspects project sites.
• Coordinates mechanical or electronic access control for facilities.
• Documents key issuances and returns in key management systems.
• Performs key audits.
• Travels using University vehicle to various locations.
• Serves as essential personnel during University closings.
• Maintains regular attendance and overtime as required.
