Michigan State University Infrastructure Planning and Facilities is seeking an Access Control Technician / Mechanic Electronics in East Lansing, Michigan. The role will maintain, repair, install, and modify access control systems, security cameras, clocks, and related electronic equipment.

The candidate will read blueprints, interpret specifications and provide technical guidance to trades staff. The position emphasizes design and modification of electronic circuits, safety, and hands-on field

Qualifications

• Completion of high school or equivalent combined with technical training/experience.
• Five years in electronics including four years in commercial installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, safety practices and ability to meet industry standards.

Responsibilities

• 50% Installation of electronic, access control and security camera systems.
• 20% Troubleshoot and repair electronic equipment, scoreboards, clocks, access control systems, security cameras, doorbells, and sound systems.
• 10% Perform preventive maintenance on electronic systems.
• 10% Interpret blueprints, as-builts, specifications for repairs and project prep.
• 10% Correspondence via email, training, meetings and professional development.
