Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Residential Community Control Access in New York to safeguard residents and visitors at a shelter location. You will verify credentials, manage entry, and maintain a welcoming environment while reporting incidents and supporting emergency procedures.

The role emphasizes customer service, site policy adherence, and collaboration with staff, with a day-time shift pattern and a $17.00 per hour pay rate. This is a full-time, on-site position.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A state, county, or city-issued security license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• A drug screen is required where permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state/local laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers at a shelter location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, access-control protocols, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Monitor and control access to the location by verifying credentials, managing visitor entry, maintaining access logs, and reporting unauthorized entry attempts or irregular activity.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following site procedures and notifying appropriate personnel and/or emergency services when needed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including entry points, common areas, and the perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Document incidents, observations, and access-control activity accurately and communicate relevant information to site management and Allied Universal supervision.
