Job summary

Allied Universal in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Security Officer for Residential Community Access Control to safeguard residents, visitors, and staff. You will monitor entrances, perform patrols, and support access control while delivering courteous, professional service.

Qualifications

• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A state, county, or city-issued security professional license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, respectful, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the shelter location, including entrances, common areas, exterior grounds, and perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points, verify authorized entry when required, and maintain awareness of visitor, resident, and staff activity in accordance with site policies.
• Prepare clear and accurate incident reports, daily activity logs, and shift handoff communications for security-related observations and events.
