Job summary

Gunnebo Entrance Control North America is seeking an Engineer to provide product and installation support across the Chicago area. You will respond to service requests, perform preventive maintenance, and support the Sales team with technical expertise to drive opportunities.

The role requires strong customer service, communication skills, and the ability to work independently while traveling to client sites. A first-time-fix mindset and safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience working independently as a service/installation technician.
• Hands-on experience with turnstiles and electrical installs.
• Ability to work with contractors and end-users for product and installation support.
• Knowledge of low and high voltage circuitry and electrical diagrams.
• Familiarity with electronic security systems and access control.
• Networking knowledge and practical IT skills.
• Willingness to train on new products.

Responsibilities

• Provide Sales Engineering support for new opportunities throughout the Sales life cycle.
• Provide remote technical support to partners and customers, including installation, reactive, and preventive service.
• Maintain high customer relations and a professional image in communications.
• Strive for first-time-fix with minimal repeat calls.
• Backup and assist the service team and other engineers to improve service delivery.
• Follow customer procedures to close jobs efficiently.
• Communicate regularly with the call desk and management.
• Ensure all job documentation and ERP entries are completed on time.
• Keep knowledge up to date with relevant technology and practices.
• Travel to other sites in the US.
• Continuously seek improvements in working practices and suggest management improvements.
• Follow Health, Safety and Environmental procedures for all activities.
• Map installed base through site walks and documentation for upselling.
• Performs additional duties as required, including coverage of other regions.
