Job summary

University of New Hampshire, located in Durham, seeks an Academic Year Advisor for the UNH TRIO Upward Bound program. This short-term, part-time role (~25 hrs/week at $25/hr) focuses on advising high school students, tutoring, and guiding college admissions and financial aid processes in partner Manchester High Schools.

Responsibilities include regular school visitation, coordinating with counselors, and coordinating college and career exploration activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, or a related field.
• Experience working with high school students and families in teaching, counseling, or related positions.
• Desire to help disadvantaged youth succeed.
• Sensitivity and maturity to work with high school students.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a regular school visitation schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school and agency personnel at target schools.
• Coordinate with target School Counselors to provide project services to participants.
• Have knowledge of NH postsecondary programs and their admissions requirements.
• Participate in all scheduled staff meetings and training.
• Provide ongoing assessment of progress and attend in-office days as scheduled.
• Other duties as assigned by the project director.
