Job summary

The Department of Surgery, Division of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Virginia seeks an open rank and track Thoracic Surgeon with expertise in general thoracic surgery and lung transplantation. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and department service, and will have opportunities to expand minimally invasive/robotic thoracic procedures.

Candidates must be MD and board-certified or eligible in Thoracic Surgery, with a strong academic plan and interest in

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent medical degree and board certification or eligibility in Thoracic Surgery.
• Experience in lung transplantation is desired.
• Interest in medical education of students and residents with potential leadership in General Thoracic Surgery.

Responsibilities

• Teaching responsibilities across student and resident education, including conferences and ward teaching.
• Engage in research activities: scholarly publications, presenting at conferences, and acquiring grants.
• Participate in service duties within departmental, hospital, and School of Medicine committees and thoracic tumor board.
• Other duties as assigned.
