UT Health San Antonio’s Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery seeks a full-time Lung Transplant and General Thoracic Surgeon. The position offers a balanced 50/50 split between lung transplantation and general thoracic surgery, with a 1:3 call schedule and strong support from staff and advanced practitioners.

Qualifications

• Training and experience in lung transplantation are required.
• Interest in graduate medical education is expected.
• Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery is preferred.
• Eligible for Texas Medical License is required or anticipated.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate lung transplant candidates and perform implantation and perioperative care.
• Practice all facets of general thoracic surgery or specialize per the candidate’s interest, with focus on minimally invasive techniques and robotic approaches.
• Contribute to education through the department’s residency program and engage in scholarly activities.
