Job summary

Samford University seeks an entry-level role responsible for maintaining and supporting classroom technologies, including projection and audio systems. You will train faculty and staff in the use of these technologies and collaborate with the Enterprise Technology Support team on ongoing projects.

The position is 40 hours per week with occasional nights and weekends as needed. Prior exposure to Zoom/Teams or related tools is advantageous. Training will be provided on the job.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job description

This entry-level position oversees the maintenance and support of classroom technologies, including projection and audio systems, as well as additional University technologies, and provides training to faculty and staff in the use of such technologies. The position is a 40 hour/week position with the flexibility to occasionally work nights and weekends when necessary.

• Provide ongoing maintenance of classroom projection and audio systems. This includes troubleshooting and facilitating repairs to existing equipment, installing replacement lamps and filters, and other necessary tasks.
• Determines, when necessary, the replacement status of classroom technologies and provides recommendations to the Assistant Director of Enterprise Technology Support.
• Coordinates with vendors in acquiring costs for installation or repair services.
• Works with faculty and staff in assessing classroom technology needs.
• Provides training and support to faculty and staff, as needed. This includes training on the use of computer and classroom technologies.
• Provides academic support to schools and departments related to other classroom technologies. This can include but is not limited to, software installation, desktop support, and other tasks as determined by the Assistant Director of Enterprise Technology Support.
• Provides reports to the Assistant Director of Enterprise Technology Support regarding classroom technology needs and requests.
• Stays current on trends and best practices as they relate to classroom technologies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• On-the-job training will be provided on an as-needed basis.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six (6) months of full-time work experience relevant to this position OR computer-related coursework from an institution of higher learning.
• Resumes must reflect a general knowledge of computer operation and support.
• Must be able to physically bend and lift a minimum of thirty (30) pounds.
• Applicants must indicate knowledge of software products and operating systems; Windows, macOS, Microsoft Office, iOS, Android.
• Must have the ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods.
• Must be able to work continuously throughout the day.
• Must be able to climb a ladder.
• Must be able to discern colors to determine equipment power status.
• Must be able to walk across campus delivering equipment.
• Must be able to report to work daily no later than 8:00 a.m.

• Experience with audio/video technologies and strategies and support of audio/video technologies, including but not limited to, projection and audio systems, web/video conferencing solutions, and desktop support.
• Employment background and educational history indicate one year of skill in training and end-user support.
• Demonstrates knowledge of technology applications/software; Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365.
