Job summary

HonorHealth in Scottsdale, AZ seeks an Academic Division Chief, Surgery to provide strategic and academic leadership for the Surgery Division in partnership with ASU and the John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering. Qualifications

• Doctorate level medical degree from an accredited medical school.
• 7+ years of substantial clinical and academic experience in Surgery.
• Demonstrated leadership in an academic medical setting.
• National reputation as a leading expert in the surgical field.
• Strong research record with competitive funding.
• Experience with medical education, faculty development, research, and scholarly activity.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and set the overall strategy for the Surgery Division academic programs, aligning with HonorHealth and ASU.
• Oversee Surgery Division UME and GME programs, including teaching, mentorship, assessment, and learner experiences.
• Advance surgical care, education, research, and innovation by integrating biomedical science, clinical disciplines, medical engineering, AI, devices, and health systems science.
• Foster a culture of research, scholarly activity, and external funding opportunities.
• Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain faculty; promote engagement, advancement, and scholarly productivity.
• Manage relationships with internal and external partners across HonorHealth, ASU, and affiliated programs; oversee budgets and infrastructure.

Education

Doctorate/M.D., D.O., M.D./Ph.D., or D.O./Ph.D. from an accredited medical school
