Job summary

New England Kurn Hattin Homes is seeking an Academic Support Professional to deliver targeted literacy and math interventions for K–8 students at Westminster, VT. You will be an effective communicator who builds trust with students, families and colleagues.

The role emphasizes collaboration with classroom teachers and the use of evidence-based practices to support student growth and independence. Experience with Leveled Literacy Intervention, PBIS, and Trauma-Informed practices is preferred,

Qualifications

POSITION OVERVIEW

New England Kurn Hattin Home and School for Children is a residential school located on 280 beautiful acres in Westminster, Vermont. We serve students in grades K–8 from culturally and socially diverse backgrounds and are committed to helping each child develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to become a successful learner and future leader.

We are seeking a dedicated and collaborative Academic Support professional to provide targeted support and individualized instruction in literacy and mathematics. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator who can build positive, supportive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide targeted literacy and math interventions based on individual student needs.
• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to support student growth.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other members of the educational team to develop and implement effective learning strategies.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students and help foster confidence and independence as learners.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and families regarding student progress and needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• At least three years of teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of current educational best practices preferred.
• Experience or familiarity with Leveled Literacy Intervention, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Restorative Practices, Proficiency-Based Learning, and Trauma-Informed Practices is preferred.
