Access and Community Engagement/TRiO Programs:

The Upward Bound Project ACE (Achieving Academic and Career Excellence) program is designed to provide opportunities for fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The goal is to increase the rate at which participants complete high school education and graduate from institutions of post-secondary (college, technical) education. Our goal is to recruit participants into the Upward Bound program, retain them, graduate them, and get them ready for post-secondary education admittance and graduation.

The Opportunity

UCF's Project ACE/TRiO Programs is seeking an Academic Support Coordinator II to provide hands-on guidance and support to high school students as they prepare for post-secondary education. This position plays a vital role in delivering advising, college readiness programming, career exploration activities, and student success initiatives that open doors to lifelong opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives on building relationships, engaging with students and families, and creating supportive pathways to success. The Coordinator is a 100% twelve-month position. The coordinator reports to the Manager of the Upward Bound Program (ACE) and is responsible for providing direct student services and support.

This is a Contracts & Grants (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers services to program participants both virtually and at Apopka High School.
  • Implements the recruitment, orientation/interviews, and intake of the required number of students approved by the Department of Education in order to meet the program goals and objectives.
  • Establishes, implements, and delivers college readiness curriculum and workshops with a focus on college access navigation, financial literacy, family outreach, and career exploration.
  • Collaborates with Manager to meet program internal goals and objectives.
  • Coordinates and participates in academic, social, and cultural events such as college tours and community service opportunities for program participants.
  • Analyze data, generate, and disseminate monthly reports to update Manager with program's progress.
  • Tracks Upward Bound (UB) students' academic advising and participation requirements; assist participants with course selection to meet graduation requirements and develops/monitors Individual Academic Plans (IAPs).
  • Maintains appropriate and accurate student records; maintains contacts in Blumen database; and documents student participation in project services.
  • Research and remain up to date on higher education trends to support evidence-based decision making on academic success.
  • Reviews progress and report cards and develops academic success plan for students.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of the academic year and summer programs.
  • Establishes and maintains a strong networks of relationships among the UB program, target school, community and various stakeholders.
  • Develops and supervises student leadership committee.
  • Develops and maintains monthly program newsletter to share with program participants and parents.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting, advising, mentoring, or coaching high school students or young adults.
  • Experience coordinating programs, workshops, outreach initiatives, events, or student engagement activities.
  • Experience with or ability to connect individuals with resources, services, or opportunities that support academic, personal, or career success.
  • Demonstrated success building meaningful relationships with students, families, community partners, or other stakeholders from varied backgrounds.
  • Experience conducting presentations, facilitating workshops, or delivering educational programming to groups.
  • Experience working with first-generation, low-income, historically underserved, or at-risk populations.
  • Knowledge of college access, career exploration, educational pathways, or student success initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain organization, and work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
