ASU Edson College seeks an Academic Success Advisor, Sr. to provide comprehensive advising for on-campus and online undergraduate students, accelerated 4+1 program students, and online graduate students.

The role requires proactive service orientation and collaboration across departments. You will guide students in planning, monitor progress with advising tools, and support retention and timely degree completion while representing the college at orientations and events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of experience or equivalent combination.
  • Master's degree in higher education, student personnel administration, education, nursing/health, or related field preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work across departments.
  • Experience in advising and student support.
  • Proficiency with advising tools and student information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group academic advising for on-campus and online students, including accelerated 4+1 program students and online graduate students.

  • Develop and maintain program resources, marketing materials, documentation, advising guidance, and training materials.

Job Description

The Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation Student Services team seeks a proactive, service-focused, and detail-oriented individual to serve as an Academic Success Advisor, Sr. This role provides comprehensive advising to on-campus and online undergraduate students, all accelerated (4+1) program students, and online graduate students.

Position Salary Range

$54,000 - $62,000 annually

Essential Duties
Academic Advising & Student Support

Provide individual and group academic advising for on-campus and online undergraduate students, accelerated 4+1 program students, and online graduate students to support retention, persistence, and timely degree completion.

Guide students in evaluating academic options, understanding degree requirements, and developing plans aligned with their academic, professional, and personal goals.

Monitor academic progress using PeopleSoft, Salesforce, DARS, Analytics and other advising tools; identify concerns, resolve complex student issues, and connect students with appropriate resources.

Teach ASU 101-NU and represent the college at orientations, workshops, recruitment events, and other student success activities.

Accelerated (4+1) Program Coordination

Serve as the primary coordinator for 4+1 program activities, including recruitment, outreach, communications, admissions processes, student progression tracking, and transition into accelerated pathways.

Develop and maintain 4+1 program resources, marketing materials, documentation, advising guidance, and training materials.

Lead onboarding for new advisors and provide recurring training for all advising staff to ensure consistent and accurate program delivery.

Prepare reports and documentation using available dashboards and analytics to monitor student outcomes, program effectiveness, and retention trends.

General Expectations

Build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, faculty, staff, and leadership to support student success and contribute to departmental and university initiatives.

Use critical thinking, sound judgement, and established policies and practices to analyze information, set priorities, resolve issues, communicate recommendations, and manage escalations.

Work independently and as part of a structured team; deliver presentations to varied audiences; use standard office equipment and advising technology.

Schedule appointments, maintain calendars, review completed tasks, and adapt to changing priorities as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

Evidence of a Master's degree in higher education, student personnel administration, education, nursing/health, or closely related field.

Knowledge of basic leadership practices.

Skill in preparing detailed reports on a timely basis.

Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.

Work collaboratively across various departments

Use computers effectively - including inputting, reviewing, retrieving information, extended periods of viewing screen, and using mouse and keyboard.

Ability to use calculator, telephone, computer (monitor, keyboard, and mouse), printer, fax, and copier.

Professional representation of department/programs.

Ability to respond to emergency situations.

Select and attend professional development opportunities provided by ASU HR.

Monthly formal check-in meetings with supervisor on goals and professional development.

Demonstrated knowledge of management and supervisory principles and practices.

Demonstrates experience of providing service to students and/or customers.

Demonstrated knowledge of basic project management and organizational practices.

Demonstrated knowledge of functionality of CRM programs and higher education student information systems.

Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external clients.

Experience in developing and conducting group presentations targeted to various programming, perspectives, or audiences.

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, methods and techniques of customer service.
