Spartanburg Community College seeks an Academic Advisor to provide educational guidance, help students plan their academic paths, and coordinate with faculty advisors to support retention and graduation goals.

The incumbent will maintain confidential FERPA records, inform students about important deadlines, and participate in orientation and related advising activities to ensure smooth course registration and progression.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
• Master's degree; at least 3 years of experience in academic advising or related student support services.
• Experience with Colleague Self Service or other Higher Education Database systems.

Responsabilités

• Provides educational guidance to students regarding academic plans, progress, and class schedules.
• Supports student retention and graduation initiatives in collaboration with faculty advisors and department chairs.
• Participates in New Student Orientation related to Academic Advising and informs advisees of important deadlines (Course Add/Drop, Mid-Terms, Withdrawals).
• Identifies and helps resolve obstacles to academic success; meets with students regularly and maintains advising records per FERPA regulations.
• Engages in professional development through conferences, training, and webinars to stay current in advising best practices.
